Toiuru brand on the front and a traditional tāniko design on the back lumbar.
Our brand Toiuru has two meanings; by dividing the words you have ‘Toi’ (Creation) and ‘Uru’ (To participate or enter). And the second meaning is ‘Spiritual Source or Awakening’. These two meanings symbolises new beginings.
Tāniko are traditionally found in wharenui (Māori meeting houses) and as a top boarder of Korowai (Māori cloaks)
This particular design acknowledges the three feminine guardians, "Hine-Ahu-One" (creation of women), "Hine-Tītama" (guardian of women) and "Hine-nui-te-pō" (Goddess of Death)
A beautiful garment to acknowledge and celebrate Māori Culture and Identity.
